Sarah opened her mouth to answer Heidi's question when yet another male for the glee pile on the floor joined them with an announcement said loudly enough that it was no longer necessary to say it herself. Oh well, she couldn't be the one who told everyone. She was, however, the one with the ring to flash so that was still pretty damn great.
Laughing at Toby – through brows raised faintly at Toby knowing what was going on without her having said anything yet – Sarah held out her hand to Heidi to show off the ring.
Nathan hadn't laughed this hard in more weeks than he could remember, but the feeling took a far second to how utterly thrilled he was for Peter. Finding Peter in the tangle of four, then five sets of limbs, was easy, considering he hadn't relented his hold on his brother even when they'd been joined by Simon and Monty.
He perked up at what Toby said, the grin splitting his face hard to erase and even the indignation at not knowing barely there beneath the other feelings. "This was it, wasn't it?" he questioned, poking all body part sin reach, Peter's and Toby's and even the boys for good measure. "The thing you've both been looking all sly about!"
I can't believe you kept this a secret from me and not Toby. Mental laughter joined vocal laughter. Pete, I'm so damned happy for you. For both of you.
"Does that mean she's gonna be Aunt Sarah now?" Monty asked, kneeing Peter in the side as he wriggled to gain the upper part of the pile. "She's not gonna kiss us all the time like Aunt Dinah, is she?"
"MOM!" Simon wasn't leaving the pile, so he looked over his shoulder. "If Toby is Uncle Peter's brother, what's that make him to us?" Crucial answers that defined how things Would Be Now, of course.
