Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne.
Rev. 20:11-12.
There was neither great white throne appearing in the middle of the half-ruined city, nor trumpets or choir of angels announcing God’s descent to Earth. Simply a stone chair that silently acquired existence in a modest room of the Lux and a girl, a winged girl who Lucifer’s Creation had hauled a blanket of Light who was now falling from the sky. The journey had lasted so long, the places she had visited physically and not. The cold, breathless gaps between worlds and the weightless afterlives, the burning core of stars and the sweet meadows of a child’s dream.
Her name and purpose were lost somewhere in the journey. But her power and will weren’t spent, they were absolute and filled her with both: a terrible wrath and an endless mercy. She had done as Lucifer said. Paced herself and fulfilled their task. She had made introductions and told the truth, now she slipped away to her last stop.
To the place she had promised to return to; to the ones who had been waiting and kept their faith.
Los Angeles, California. The lukewarm fires of Armageddon weren’t yet extinguished. She stared at the city, unable oversee its wreck and the taste of the tears shed she hadn’t wiped away from their faces. With little effort, she called for them, their seals. Her head donned with Pollution’s crown and her hands held the sword of War and Famine’s scales. She measured, she released what was conquered, and she restored the peace. In the end, she decided it was time for the good portion of Revelation prophecy to become real.
The Apocalypse wasn’t about death, but the beginning of a new cycle.
The girl didn’t move from her position in the sky with wings made of light and feathers. But she was travelling simultaneously to the afterlives. Hell, Heaven, Hades, every door opened and those who died and were ready to live return: to their houses, to their loved ones, to their lives. And she soothed their pains and removed the memory of the tragedy from the mind of the victims who weren't aware. From the massive exodus of people who didn't need to know to continue their normal routines.
But those handful brought to fight wherever they survived or died, she didn't dare to touch them.
‘It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.’ She recalled the quote in the moment she became what He was in the Beginning. She also remembered she never wanted this. There was just nobody else who would be ready to take Yahweh’s place, except for her.
What was damaged would soon begin to heal. Elaine Belloc smiled in resignation and landed at the gates of the Lux. She pushed them open, making herself in.
“Well, I’m back. Looks like I missed something big.”
