Martha’s frown deepened, “he still has the medical bay, yeah?” She didn’t wait for an answer because she was already out of the room and hoping the medical bay would be easily accessible, she tried the first few doors before she came to the right one. She rushed around to get the right equipment and pick up a glass of water (since she knew the supply aboard was clean) before returning.
“Could you help her with this?” She asked as she handed the glass of water to Romana, if Rose was too weak then she would need help and Martha would be too busy checking other vitals to do so. It was important to sustain more fluid than normal but if the food wasn’t taking effect then what’s to say the water would. Martha returned to the other side of the bed, she was starting to dread the worse, what if there was nothing to be done? What would happen to The Doctor?
“Any stomach or chest pains?” Martha asked as she pulled out the stethoscope from the stuff she had brought, gently placing it where Rose’s heart was and listening carefully. She kept that neutral expression she had learnt she needed to have when dealing with patients, it was important not to panic them, but what she was hearing wasn’t good, her heart sounded weak and was slowing down. With what Rose had said about the lack of food..and her skin colour, the loss of weight was obvious in her cheekbones. Martha pulled the stethoscope away, she had all the signs of malnutrition and starvation but it didn’t make sense, it usually took much longer than a few days.
