At first, all he could do was stare, his mouth slightly open as if he was on the verge of saying something but had forgotten it completely. As much as he logically wanted to say that it was all some sort of elaborate hoax, some sick trap... there was no power left in the universe that could have produced the spark of telepathic energy that suddenly seemed to flow between them... there was very little way he could deny that this was the woman he was seeking.
"Romana... how?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper as it caught in his throat. For a moment it was as though the whole world had stopped; the pain he'd felt at losing the Master had made him realise just how truly alone in the universe he was, and here in front of him was another, much brighter chance to make that all go away. Of course, now he had Rose back, he could drop in on Jack whenever he wanted... but it was never going to be the same: eventually, Rose would die, and Jack had a whole separate life out there. Nothing would be able to fill the void... except perhaps this Time Lady.
He was watching her, waiting for a response as he felt his lip quiver slightly, a lump forming in his throat as he tried to stay in control of his emotions, each passing second making it more and more impossible.
