"If it stayed on her skin, there would be too much risk of damage," Jaenelle explained for Cox's benefit. "By moving it inward, it protects the web, and also allows it to tune to Sarah's body, and protect it from any further damage."
She gave the woman a light smile, turning to her case to begin constructing the second web. She turned back at Sarah's questions and sat down.
Though there was clearly no stool for her to sit on, Jaenelle relaxed as though she were seated, even with one ankle hooked behind an invisible rung. "Moving it around would damage it, but..." A light frown settled across her features as she considered. Peter. She'd been briefly introduced to the young man with the scar when they had arrived. She remembered the look in his eyes when he had mentioned Sarah to them. She had recognized the sense of power within, and the way he was managing his emotions.
That seemed to settle it, in her mind. "It is the nature of Warlord Princes to be protective," she said casually, returning to her case. She might have been describing the wallpaper for all the import she gave her statement. "You can't blame him for that. But if he is careful, which I'm sure he will be, then he can move it downstairs for you. Still, I would prefer that it remain in once place for as long as possible."
