The last day and a half hadn't exactly been the greatest of Sarah's life, but it was being survived. It had to be survived. Last night to this afternoon had seemed to be the worst of whatever the water had introduced into her and Toby's systems, but the advantage of her mature immune system and usual health was diminished by whatever had been wrong with her for the last week or more. Toby, at least, had the resilience of youth. They were both still feeling poorly, but Toby looked much better than she did.
The fact remained, she wasn't sick enough yet to be bedridden and so she refused to do so until it was absolutely necessary. Her brother was still unwell and she would take care of him, even with people fussing at her. Right now, that meant finding popsicles and a portable ice chest so they didn't have to run up and down the stairs all evening.
At the foot of the stairs she paused and looked around, wrapping her sweater tighter around her now too-thin frame, the usual temperature of the hotel not as comfortable as it had once been. Spotting Gabriel at the desk, she smiled and wandered over.
"Researching?" she asked as she came to a stop next to him.
