"Well... Huh. That's... Interesting," Gabriel said to Sam's comment about religion. Was in a return to the old religions as a reaction to the adoption of the monotheistic God figure as their own, or had humanity just never reached it in his time and reality? "I was raised to believe that there was only one True God. In fact, most of the people in this country were. You have your polytheistic religions scattered through-out, yes, but they're mostly treated as a joke anymore. Zeus, Apollo, Hera... The religion you're talking about mostly died out... thousands of years ago after the conversion of the Old Empires to Christianity. We still know about them, sure, but most people don't consider them to be anymore than stories. Myths created by a less than civilized culture who was working to come to grips with the things which they could not explain."
Shaking out his head slowly, Gabriel laughed, "But that doesn't really matter in the long run. And that is definitely love that you're talking about. We're always more willing to put up with behavior from people that was love which we wouldn't stand from those whom we have no affection towards," He said with a slight sigh.
"And that... That sounds like a cycle to me, and the only way to break a cycle is for both sides to agree to stop."
