"Perhaps if you didn't want to alarm me you shouldn't have opened with the words 'I don't want to alarm you'." Sam frowned, not quite alarmed yet, but definitely in the nervous category.
He hesitated for a moment, weighing up his options. He could run, but he really wasn't the type to do that. And besides, he'd come this far. He was bigger than Gabriel and reasonably confident in his ability to take him in an unarmed fight. And if it turned out that Gabriel or someone else in that hotel had some sort of nifty super power like so many in this city seemed to have... He smiled slowly. Even if they gagged him they wouldn't be able to stop him mentally calling out for Lis. Telepaths were great.
"Very well," he nodded slowly. "I guess I'm stepping inside." He shifted slightly to let Gabriel go first, not wanting to be surprised by anyone behind him again.
