Heather chose not to comment on that first part. Faith was already looking at her with more than a little suspicion, and if she said anything else, it would just lead to more questions and possibly a lecture. She nodded in response and left it at that.
She winced when Faith showed her the bite scars, unable to help it. The thought of being bitten like that just didn't sit well with her, especially when Faith told her the story behind it all. That, however, was nothing compared to the way her heart twisted once Faith continued, telling her about her relationship with her mother and her boyfriends. "That's... Faith, I'm sorry. That's horrible. I...I don't even know what to say to that." What could be said? Even telling her how sorry she was to hear about it didn't make much of a difference, but it was all she could do. And aside from that, she had a feeling Faith wasn't the type to want pity, either.
"That's my point. And Kira's my friend, too, so it just makes me feel like this awful person to even think that way, but I do."
Heather was quiet for a few moments, thinking back on what Faith had told her, plus the fact that she apparently hadn't told anyone else about it, either. It made her want to share her own past, as well, even though it would take a little more time to explain. There really was no shortened version of it, after all.
"I don't know if you ever heard of Silent Hill," she began, taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly, "but it's this old town that has a lot of cult activity and religious freaks, people who believe in all kinds of crazy stuff. And there was this woman named Dahlia, and she was a cult leader who had a daughter named Alessa. This cult thought that a God was going to come along and bring them an eternal paradise, but the God had to be born out of anger and hate. So Dahlia put up Alessa as a sacrifice, burning her alive just to put her in enough pain to be able to birth the God. This caused Alessa to go into a comatose state, and her soul actually split into two halves because of the pain. The dark side stayed in the hospital, and the innocent side was transferred to another little girl named Cheryl. My dad, before I came along, found Cheryl as a baby and raised her as his own. But Alessa being in so much pain ended up unconsciously calling Cheryl to Silent Hill, trying to combine the two soul halves back into one. My dad went after her, and when he got to Silent Hill, there were all these evil deformed creatures, all because Alessa had put them there. She was angry and in pain, and her mind just exploded with it, stirring up the monsters. But anyway, Cheryl and Alessa ended up combining, and the God was born, but he killed it. And then for some reason, after he did, Alessa was lying there as an adult, and she handed him a baby to replace Cheryl, now that he'd lost her. That...that baby was me."
She stopped there. There was a bit more, but she decided to stop for a minute and let Faith take everything she'd already said in.
