WHO: Mai and Zuko WHAT: Mai's thinking about him and generally being her seemingly unfeeling self, and then Zuko comes along WHEN: Night WHERE: The park Mai originally showed up in RATING: TBA STATUS: In progress
To be aloof and unfeeling was something that Mai had perfected over the years. A skill that was forced on her from her mother, saying that because she was her father's daughter, it just wouldn't do for her to show her emotions openly or show that she cared about something...or someone. Those years growing up had made her who she was now. A girl hiding behind a mask of a cold face. That's how she'd always been. It was second nature.
But, there was a time when that aloofness had started to go away. When? When she was with Zuko.
She had cared for him ever since they were small children, while she was being pushed around by Azula and he would often be passing by. Automatically, that feeling was never openly expressed to him until much later. Zuko was the one who had helped her become more open with people and less unfeeling. It felt wonderful to finally be able to. But that wasn't destined to last. That scroll that he'd left her and what it had said... Just like that their relationship was over.
All these thought were running through her head as she sat on a bench in the park she had originally appeared in. Not many other people seemed to be around. Her hands were turning over one of her daggers over and over in her hands, fingertips running over the edges of the blade. They were done and over now...so why was he the only thing she could think about? That bored, unfeeling mask she still wore upon her features, but in her eyes you could tell that she wasn't as outer appearance would lead you to believe.
