Lilith remained still on the ground, both stoic and gentle like those sculptures of Mary and Holy Women with kind smiles and glass eyes. She heard the creak and the twist of the key within the lock of the Chapel. The Church had closed when she began follow Valek’s feline motions with some amusement. So far she had appeared akin to a dove when in reality, she was a predatory bird when her patience ran out. This man had not yet crossed her limits and Lilith thanked God for not having to fight another war.
“I’m deeply sorry to hear that, mister Valek,” Lilith said truthfully. “I have this belief… that we can co-exist in relative peace together.” She drew a sigh. “I also mourn your abandonment of the Church, but we all take the choices we need.” She turned to watch him next, recognizing his hatred. She wondered if he lost his human heart completely like Seth and Cain. Or that he still kept it concealed by a tremendous bloodshed like Abel. “Do you hate them, thus? Or ah-- did you love them once and they betrayed your love?” she wondered.
