Amelia stared at the papers, not touching them, as she let his words wash over her. She officially existed here, now. It seemed like such an inconsequential matter in the grand scheme of things but it mattered to her. It mattered more than she'd even realized.
Looking up from the paperwork when he'd finally finished speaking, she offered him a ghost of a smile. "Thank you," she murmured, although she wasn't certain what she was thanking him for, really. The paperwork, the acknowledgment that she wasn't still a small child, or something more. Whatever it was she was grateful for, she wanted him to know it.
She started to go, rose partially from her chair, and found herself studying the business management book. Sitting back down, slowly, she glanced to the man across from her. "What are their true inclinations?"
The question was a hesitant one, almost as though she were afraid to know the answer. Part of her was, she supposed. Part of her knew if she started down this path, there might be no going back. Yet, here she was... waiting for an answer and wondering if it'll be one that she can accept.
