Maintaining eye contact, Caedus delivered his story with bombastic oratorical tricks, focusing on presenting Amelia with the truth in such a way that she understood that many of the things she had been told were nothing more than a lie.
"When you were four years old," he began, his Coruscanti accent clipped and precise, "the Galactic Alliance was engaged in a war for survival against the Confederation. During the course of that war, both sides engaged in extreme acts provoked by emotion and hate."
Caedus closed his eyes, the pain flaring up anew. "Your mother....turned against me. She had her fleet open fire on mine, with orders to kill me. Specifically me. She had been my closest ally, and not only ally, but lover, and she gave the order to..."
Caedus composed himself and continued. "I took you away from her. No doubt she called it 'kidnapped'." He opened his eyes, studying his daughter's reaction to that. "I refuse to call it kidnapping, especially when I happen to be the other half of the DNA that produced you. And yes, I admit to threatening to kill you to get your mother to return to my side, but I would never have done it. I would never have been able to do it. It was a hollow threat."
Rage began to spark in Caedus' eyes. "But whatever else can be said of what I did, what the Jedi did was unspeakable. You know that you cannot find sense me within the Force, no matter how hard you try." His facial expression became grim. "I took you out in a stealth fighter in fear for your life. I concealed myself within the Force. The Jedi homed in on your Force presence to kill me. They focused on you, Allana, to kill me. Because a child's Force presence is identical to an adult's, apparently."
His voice dripped fury. "And that is the true circumstances of what led to me taking you away from your mother, and your so-called rescue. They used you as a tool to kill me."
Caedus paused. "But they never told you that, did they?"
