The clock on the wall had to be one of the most annoying sounds James Potter had ever heard. For every minute that Lily was gone he had to hear the infuriating thing tick sixty seconds away, and he couldn't help but wonder what was going on at Snivellus's that was important enough for his wife to waste sixty seconds of second shot at life with him. The process repeated itself over and over, a minute passing, James glaring at the clock and imagining all manner of dull or infuriating things that Snape could be saying, and it was slowly driving him mad. He twirled his wand slowly over his fingertips, imagining Lily's possible reactions which ranged from indifferent to angry to, worse, receptive.
Bloody hell, I don't want her being friends with him again. I don't want to have to play nice with him, or to ignore him when he looks at me with that sullen look. He's a git, and he deserves to be hexed.
"Right then." he said, getting quickly to his feet and putting his wand into his back pocket. "how about a walk then, Padfoot?" He knew that Sirius didn't want to go out, and they had both been avoiding the subject. However, now was as good as a time as any, and James wanted the distraction. Besides, he thought, the sooner Sirius saw that innocent things like walks and ventures outdoors wouldn't hurt him, the better. It was just another step on his recovery to being 'good old Sirius' again.
