Danica shrugged one shoulder, as if she hadn't a care in the world. "I always need something," she answered, "but that's neither here nor there, isn't it?" She rose from the rock, coming a bit closer to examine some of the leavings, although she didn't bring herself within sword range. Not that it mattered, gun range was a whole different set of problems. But she wasn't here to antagonize. Not yet, anyway.

She half-smiled, not a completely pleasant one, and said, "You're the one known as Selene, aren't you?" Part of Danica wanted to be wrong, in case this vampire was not one to coexist with humans, but the other part of her didn't like the idea of two vampires on that level in town.
