At his words, Katara felt her stomach drop clear to her toes. Her hand fell away from him, back to her side, as she stared at him with wide blue eyes filled with shock and pain.
Struggling to compose herself, she managed to do little more than open and close her mouth a few times before any sound would finally come out. When it did, however, it wasn't a screech nor was it even raised. In all actuality, she spoke in a quiet, measured tone.
"That's funny. I was almost certain you said you'd given up your crown in order to help Aang," she said simply.
Her eyes narrowed slightly as she added, "Of course, you say a lot of things, don't you, Zuko? You say a lot of different things, to a lot of different people. So much, in fact, that I'm not even sure you know what's true anymore and what isn't."
