Sam grinned before focusing again on work, serving drinks when he had to and heading back to Lis when he could. As much as he could have easily spent hours talking with her, he didn't want to lose his job on the first night. It took him a little while to get back to her question.
"Just one, and that wasn't by choice. Cameron, don't know if you've met her. She's some kind of machine herself." He looked faintly bemused. "Very different kind though, a little less with the emotions I think. Anyway, she scanned me or something I guess and knew I wasn't human. Kinda had to confess then."
He shrugged awkwardly. "Don't feel ready to tell other people. Still thinking like I'm gonna get lynched if people knew what I really am."
Not Lis though. He trusted her. Completely. Which felt odd. In a nice way, but still, odd.
