"What are you doing?" the Doctor groaned impatiently to his TARDIS console, banging at the directional unit with a mallet as if that was somehow meant to help put him back on course. The ship tipped violently, sending him to the floor for the third time in the last minute. As he found his feet again, or rather his knees, he prodded at the time circuits rather unprofessionally with his index finger, receiving nothing but a sharp burn for his efforts. He clung to the side of the console as the ship apparently tried to knock him unconscious. "Fine! Have it your way!" he rolled his eyes, banging a fist against the console to start rematerialisation in the nearest habitable environment, which the ship was happy to do albeit rather violently.
The Doctor remained quite still for a few seconds after landing, as if he wasn't quite ready to believe it was over, but as the central column dimmed its lights and the noises of the ship reduced to a soft hum, he decided it was safe to let go of the console. "Right, where are we..." he muttered, pulling the scanner over to take a quick look. "City... Earth... early 21st century..." he shrugged, scrunching up his nose slightly. What was so important about this specific place that the TARDIS was refusing to latch on to any other location?
Well, there was only one way to find out. He grabbed his coat, sonic screwdriver and psychic paper and he was ready to explore as he eagerly opened the door and took a peek outside. It was definitely Earth... why was it always Earth? Nonetheless, he locked the door behind him and mentally prepared himself for another adventure.
