“Well, I’ve been busy,” Elaine replied to her question as she waited for the gate to stabilise itself. The opposite side was indistinguishable by the pristine glow of light. She remembered how Kryptonian physiology worked and that the sun of the world changed colours from white to yellow to red. That wouldn’t matter; Kara was the Godmother and not just an alien visitor.
Elaine stifled a laugh and motioned to her messy handwriting. “It’s rough when I can’t see what I’m doing.” Her grip on Kara’s hand was steady. She didn’t want to release Kara and have her lost in between worlds for who knows how long. The last time she had crossed one of her gates was with Lucifer and her uncle had the sheer will to look for an exit easily.
“Don’t let go my hand,” warned Elaine while she gave the first steps forward into the blinding light. “You should close your eyes.” She was aware the intensity of the glow, enough to be almost visible to the darkness of her sight. In a minute, they were strolling on a comet suspended on the sky of the brown and green planet below. Unlike earth, this one had more soils and continent than sea. It was for the lifeforms she had chosen as intelligent from creation: hedgehogs: creatures that were in the verge of a war with an aggressive race of hominid that were never officially part of her plan, but they evolved regardless.
Those were known as homo sapiens in other worlds. Those were the humans of this one.
