WHO: Jaina Solo and OPEN
WHAT: An accident and the beginning of the aftermath.
WHEN: Mid-afternoon
WHERE: The woods where Jaina has her StealthX hidden.
RATING: TBD
STATUS: In Progress
While Jaina would never go so far as to say she'd never before crashed a ship, she would gladly (and proudly) admit that whenever such a rare event did take place she always managed to do so with the grace befitting a Solo. She didn't panic and she didn't try to blame anything beyond that which was responsible - even if it was herself. She simply held on tight, did her best to correct whatever the problem might be, and if all else failed she hoped for the best.
On this particular day, at this particular moment, Jaina was officially into the 'hoping for the best' phase of her plan. Because nothing else - not cursing, begging, tinkering, nothing - was stopping her StealthX from crashing into the Earth. In fact, the only thing that was likely going to keep it from exploding on impact was her use of the Force to try to slow it down before it actually hit the ground. Which really wasn't going to help much, she knew, but it was all she could think to do in the few seconds she had left before the inevitable came.
And so there she was, in her seat with her eyes closed in concentration and her hands on the controls as she did her best to slow down her beloved ship before it smashed into the ground below. She knew on some level she should probably be sending a message through the Force to someone, but for the most part her mind was focused on just trying to save her life. If she failed at that much… they'd know she was gone and a message would be moot. And if she succeeded, she had no real need for one either since she'd be alive and able to then alert her family to her predicament.
Unfortunately, Jaina hadn't taken head trauma into consideration. The thought of actually being incapacitated had truly never crossed her mind. She figured, as she did with most things, this was an all or nothing situation and she'd be damned if she was going to die in a crash of all things. No, she figured she'd be fine. She'd be pissed that she had to essentially rebuild her ship, but she'd be fine.
She was, however, wrong.
The StealthX landed with a sharp enough impact to fling her from her seat. Belatedly she'd realized that fully buckling herself in would have been a pretty smart thing to do. Then her head was connecting with the side of the craft - just as it began to roll violently across the clearing it had landed in - and Jaina felt a sharp pain shoot across her skull. She cried out, the sound lost in the roar of crushing metal and snapping bits of machinery.
Next, gravity took hold and Jaina fell through the air and smashed into the controls. By that point fortunately the ship had skid to a halt and Jaina, in turn, slid into the floorboard of the cockpit. The room spun, her head throbbed, yet she placed one palm on the ground and managed to half-crawl, half-drag her way to the partially opened exit. She only made it about halfway through it, though, when her body finally succumb to the damage it had just suffered. And with one final exhale of air she collapsed, slipping into unconsciousness before she'd even fully landed halfway in, and halfway out, her all but totaled StealthX.
