Peter made a noise, somewhere between a snort and a laugh. "Yeah, well," he said, bitterness dripping from every syllable. "I guess it's not your problem, is it?"
He'd had enough. Peter put one hand on the railing and jumped over it, landing neatly on the ground below. He tucked his hands in his pockets and started walking again.
