If anyone could understand what it was like to face the wake of a wish that hadn't been meant, it was Sarah, but she was also glad to hear that Kira wasn't beating herself up as much. Guilt and self-flagellation didn't get anyone very far, especially when there was still something to be done about repairing what wish had been made. Sarah was reasonably confident that repair would come, as no matter how often things seemed terrible or impossible, there was a solution nearly as often.
In the kitchen she slid enough brownies for several people onto a small tray that she then stuck in the toaster oven briefly. Brownies were better fresh out of the oven, as far as Sarah was concerned, but as it was nearing the middle of the night, the toaster over was better than warming them up in the over, and definitely better than the microwave.
Tapping her fingernails on the counter, she waited for both the timer and Kira.
