"On this matter I will not argue again." She gave him an apologetic look as she walked around the car and followed him to the door. Sleep? Was he kidding? Of course she slept. However she had never tried to sleep with him beside her. Was that what he meant, that they would be sharing the bed or that he would be the one to take the couch? She did not dare ask and decided that she would just let it work its self out.
"Could I borrow that shirt you have on? The one under the flannel?" That was what her perfect nights sleep would be. Wrapped in the warm smell of his skin, his eyes coaxing her to dream from behind her closed lids.
When they reached the top of the stairs she stopped, taking her boots off. She remembered he had told her no shoes. Now he had very unfair height advantage. One she was growing to love. Skirting past him she stood one step ahead of him, evening out the height difference. Looking at him, her eyes hidden by the brim of his hat she smiled. "Oh I sleep. Believe me when I tell you the dreams I have been having lately might even bring a little flush to your cheeks. They had all been about him.
