As she drove along, Heather kept her eyes focused on the road, but she also glanced back at Sam in the mirror every so often, hoping he didn't notice. It was a little difficult to see him, rather than just his headlights and the front of the Impala, but knowing he was there was a comfort in itself.
It didn't take long to reach her apartment building, and she pulled into her usual spot in front before shutting off the engine and getting out of the car, locking the door before turning to Sam as he approached.
"Thanks," she said again. "You didn't have to go out of your way to follow me, but I appreciate it, anyway." She glanced at his shoulder with a bit of concern in her face. She knew it wouldn't kill him, but she was sure it was uncomfortable, especially with the way she'd tied it up. "You gonna be okay like that until you get home?"
