Jaina blinked, her brow furrowing. "I..." she hesitated, really considering the question. "I don't know," she finally admitted, shoulders slumping a bit. "Jacen and I grew apart after Anakin's death. Once he closed our bond..."
Shaking her head, shoving the emotional pain away, she tried to think back to what few things she knew from fact and even speculation when it came to her brother and his final descent to the Dark Side. Much as her grandfather had just done, she voiced her thoughts out loud.
"He stopped believing in the Dark Side, and became obsessed with bringing complete peace to the galaxy. When our parents tried pointing out that it was impossible, when they opposed him, he turned on them." Her voice was quiet as she spoke, pain lacing her tone. "He killed my Master, then attended her funeral and let everyone think Lumiya was the one responsible. I don't know what happened in between that, though, to make him make that final step."
For a moment, there was silence. Then Amelia spoke, her voice nearly inaudible. "... me." When Jaina turned to look at her, she met her gaze without flinching, before turning to Anakin. "It was me. He came to visit, just before he killed her. I... I think he was considering having me be his sacrifice, or maybe Tenel Ka."
Shoving aside speculation, Amelia focused on what she knew to be fact. It was so long ago, her words started slowly but sped up as those foggy memories began to become clearer. "Not long after that visit, he came back and kidnapped me. I can't speak for him, obviously, but from what I was told later on, Tenel Ka had turned against him and wouldn't let him see me. So... he took me away... and said if she didn't re-pledge her support to the Galactic Alliance, he would kill me."
It was during the kidnapping that she'd learned he was her father, but Amelia didn't say as much. Some things were just too personal to discuss, and that happened to be one of them. Instead she continued with, "So, that's the difference. The last line. Jacen would never have even threatened to hurt me. Ever. I don't know if Caedus would have really done so either, but I do know he made the threat."
Amelia stopped there, drawing in a steadying breath. "Which means it's me. Or I'm the closest thing we have." And with that, she stopped speaking, not trusting herself to continue.
