It was obvious to Skyfire, now that he was able to observe the interaction between Mikaela Banes and Starscream, that while the girl may know some version of his bond-mate, it clearly wasn't through any sort of friendly means. The tension alone was testament to that fact. And, he supposed, he shouldn't be too very surprised. He'd seen the near-contempt Starscream had expressed when dealing with the other human behind that desk. It stood to reason any dealings any soldier version that Mikaela may have encountered would have treated her much the same way.
Yet, she had come to their assistance. It was a gesture which said quite a lot about her, more than words ever could, and perhaps said a great deal about the human species as a whole. Clearly they were a still-developing group and it was obvious they were physically limited in a lot of ways in which his type was not, but the sheer selfless act of kindness for someone Skyfire presumed she saw as an enemy more than made up for any shortcomings they may possess.
Of course, he was of the same thought process as Starscream when it came to the human's choice of travel. Bizarre, in fact, didn't even begin to cover it as he simply hadn't any real clue that this was the means with which they got around until she'd driven up. He wasn't certain what he had been expecting, but certainly not this.
He didn't dwell on it, though, instead giving his bond-mate a reassuring, loving smile. Even with the cold, the shivering, the ache that seemed to fill his entire body, Skyfire was still focused on making certain Starscream was all right. His concern was for the other man, as it always was.
"You're welcome," Mikaela spoke and Skyfire glanced toward her, studying her profile as she steered the truck out of the parking lot and back onto the road. She gave them a quick look, brow furrowed slightly as she seemed to study him for a bit longer. It was very akin to a look he interperated as concern, although without the personal feelings attached of course.
"You seem distressed, Mikaela Banes," he stated, voice soft and polite. He didn't ask why, simply made the observation.
Mikaela, however, seemed to take that as question enough. "Your color isn't good," she admitted just as quietly, gaze going back to the road. "Although it looks like it might be improving." There was a brief pause before she looked sideways at both Skyfire and Starscream once more.
"And... it's just Mikaela. Banes is my last name. My family name. Mikaela is what I go by."
He stored that information away for later use, not quite understanding why she wouldn't wish to go by her full name, but not questioning her either. If thus was the way of the humans, than so be it. "Very well," he responded amicably enough, "... Mikaela."
Another brief pause and then she added one final statement. "I know some people who may be able to figure out why happened. Why you're both human, now. I don't know if they can fix it, but I'll call them later and see what they can do." This time she seemed to be directing her comments more toward Starscream than Skyfire himself, so the latter opted to remain silent as she flashed a small, ironic sort of smile.
"For now, we'll go to my place. Whoever is responsible for this, if someone is, they sure won't think to look for you there."
