Nodding to the question, even though Skyfire was watching Mikaela and therefore wouldn't see it, Starscream curled his fingers gently with his bond-mate's and moved to the door, taking Skyfire with him. Pushing it open, he stepped outside to meet the human, some part of him accepting that it must have been difficult for her to come. To her, he was an enemy---and true, the Decepticon army had no particular regard for the human race, but there had been no invasion. So evidently, there was.. more than one Starscream, as well. It was a chilling thought.
"Mikaela Banes," he greeted, fingers tightening unconsciously around Skyfire's, as if afraid to be parted from him. ".. You already know me, but.." He glanced back at the other man, mouth curving into a brilliant, adoring smile. "This is Skyfire." Getting his expression under control again with a little effort, Starscream took a careful breath, crimson eyes meeting and holding the human girl's gaze. "It may be difficult to believe, but he is not part of the war. In fact, he didn't even know there was a war until recently." He hesitated, realising that if he and Mikaela Banes really were enemies in some.. alternate reality, she probably wanted nothing to do with him. Perhaps it had only been curiousity driving her to come here.
He didn't mind that, as long as she helped Skyfire. He could manage on his own, as long as his bond-mate was safe and healthy. He couldn't--couldn't lose him again. It would destroy him a second time. There would be nothing left of Starscream's mind to salvage.
