“Luck had nothing to do with it.” It was evolution. Selene was not like these common vampires that bred and died as easily as houseflies. She survived because she was stronger. Her nerves were constantly grated by how common she was treated. ‘I knew a vampire like that’. At least at home, in ‘Pest, she mattered, she was important. Here she was a boring cliché. While she did not strive for the limelight a little respect would be appreciated.
Instead she was the head of an ‘orphanage’ or at least that is what the eyes that fell on her thought. Frustration bled through her dark eyes. She was growing stronger thanks to Seth, yet every day she felt increasingly tired. Though it was not a physical ailment.
“I really should be getting back to bed.” She stated in a flat, dismissive tone. Perhaps she could sleep away the remainder of this century. If she were lucky. Which of course she wasn’t, so she may have to actually step in and make it happen on her own. The idea was growing more appealing. Although there were two faces she would be sad to leave behind.
Shaking the thoughts away she stood up, wrapping her arms around her waist. She was just tired, that is all it was. Nothing else.
