Lindsey had to chuckle at that one. "Don't worry, Kathy, you're not," he replied reassuringly. "We help a lot of people, not just the ones in trouble with the law." He grabbed a nearby stool and pulled it over, sitting down on it as he regarded her.
"You might find it hard to believe." Here he had to tread carefully. Revealing to the little girl that they had brought her back from the dead could cause more than a few problems. "Your mother and father are not here, I'm afraid. This city that you are in is called Los Angeles in America. I believe this land was nothing but British colonies and Canadian owned land in your time."
That still left the question of how to answer her first. "You came to be here," he said, pausing. "By a magical process. You were pulled before a very dangerous moment in your life was to take place and brought here." It was a lie, but small in comparison to some that he had told before.
