Kathy's whole body tensed when the man entered the strange room, eyes going wide at the side of him. His clothes, his hair....everything about him was so very strange. And then when he spoke--well, the child knew then and there that she was, indeed, far from home.
Her heart sped up as panic rose in her, and she gave an almost inaudible whimper. She wanted her family. Well, any familiar face would do at this point, really, but more than anything, the little girl longed for her brother.
Liam. Her heart clenched at the thought of him, though she could not immediately place exactly why.
Regarding the man cautiously, she finally drew in a deep breath, head nodding in compliance. When she spoke, her voice was small.
"Yes, sir." She bit her lip, unsure of what else to add. Her mam had given her careful instruction as to her manners, but she couldn't seem to remember them now. Turning her gaze back to her hands, now resting in her lap, she toyed with the fabric of her dress, wondering how it was she came to wear it.
