"Don't be sorry," Heather replied with a light shake of her head, watching Kira pull the chair over towards the bed. She was about to tell her that she should've had a gun with her so that she could've at least semi-defended herself, but she was sure Kira didn't want to hear about all of that.
At the mention of Sam, Heather glanced towards the door, then looked back to the girl sitting in the chair he usually occupied. "He's been in and out today," she explained. "He might be back while you're still here, though. Depends how long you're staying." A pause. "Not that I mind you being here at all. Just saying."
