Naturally, he couldn't quite remember if he'd ever had a more awkward car ride than the one he shared with Claire, but he thought it was a pretty safe bet he hadn't. Even though he was nervous about going to this Hyperion and meeting the "family" that Claire had spoken of, he was still relieved when they arrived, just so they would not have to sit in silence in the cab anymore.
Any relaxation he might have felt didn't last long, however, as a screeching alarm sound suddenly began blasting the second he walked through the door. But he had never heard an alarm like this...it was beyond loud - he felt as if his head was going to explode. He looked over at Claire, expecting to see her in the same pain he was, but she only appeared to be mildly worried about the sound. She certainly wasn't affected by it the same way he was. He struggled to stay on his feet, as the ear-splitting alarm continued to pound his brain into submission.
So distracted was he by the sonic bombs seemingly exploding in his ears, he didn't even notice the other man enter the lobby until what felt like a gigantic rush of wind nailed him in the chest and sent him flying back against a wall. Even without memories, he was sure he had never been this frightened in his life. The alarm continued to scream inside his head, and now he has his breath knocked out of him and some...force was preventing him from moving from where he now was.
He finally looked at the other man, and although he felt a small sense of familiarity, he did not recognize him as anyone he knew. But the look on the man's face told him that he was not happy with Gabriel's presence here. What was going on? Claire had promised him that coming here would be the safest option, and now this? Wait...Claire...
He struggled to turn his head towards Claire, and with all his might he fought whatever strange power was pinning him back and tried to reach a single hand toward her, as he pleaded in a pitiful manner.
