It was almost impossible for her not to smile when her mom was being like that. It was a bit of relief if she didn't have to worry about slipping up and making her uncomfortable. "Yeah, that's who you are." she said with a smile. "I just thought I should be careful. I don't want to mess anything up for you guys by being here. Usually you're supposed to find out you have a daughter when you're pregnant with her, not when she's sixteen and appears." she said with a shrug. They were both so young, and had never really asked them what they thought. Neither of them seemed upset by it, but what they thought of her, she didn't know. Peter had said once that he had been proud, but he could have been saying it lightly.
She moved from the counter to get another bowl and spoon, so she could scoop up another bowl for her. May hadn't done or said anything during the staring. She half expected it really. The first time she had met Peter from her past, he had been in high school. They had both been in costume, but there had been a lot of staring. When she had met the Peter here, there had also been staring. She'd love to know just what they were thinking, but at the same time, was glad she couldn't hear.
After she dished out another bowl, she put the ice cream back in the freezer, and handed the second bowl over. "How are you doing? I heard you were OK after the mugging...but still." she had wanted to visit her mom, but her dad had been all over it. And again, the whole butting in thing, so she had staid back, and got as much information as she could without getting too involved.
