Gabriel blinked once before the redness deepened. He should have realized that the man had noticed that someone was behind him when he'd disappeared so suddenly. His head dipped slightly as a hand moved to rake through his hair, trying to compose himself. The utterance of, "Yes, well, um..." probably didn't help things any, but it was the best thing that he could up with before his mind slowly clicked back into place as he started to regain whatever composure he had in a situation like this.
