"Yeah, absolutely nutters," Tonks muttered to herself as she shook her head. She cast a Lumos charm to one of the lamps at the other side and end of the block. "Absolutely bloody nutters."
She glanced over at her aunt as they walked side by side. It was an odd picture, to be sure, and not one she'd ever thought she'd be helping to make. It just felt so odd to be standing next this teenager, knowing who she'd turn out to be.
Of course, did she have to turn out that way? Tonks wanted to tell herself that the answer was no. Removed from her own time, maybe Bella could be redeemed? No, honestly, she doubted it and it was safer if she continued to do so.
"Mum told me about that time. Funny how in her version it seemed like she was absolutely terrified of him." Likely because her mum had had sense neither Tonks herself or Bella had possesed during their teen years. "You do know that nothing's worth Azkaban? Maybe you don't understand because you're only what... seventeen? Sixteen? It's a horrible place that no one should be glorifying for you in the least. People go there and they come out shells of themselves."
