He could hear her thoughts racing on the other side of the door and knew her reasoning for delay. Perhaps if he couldn't know that his own impatience would have had him knocking down the door, but as it was he merely started to call softly to her at the moment the door was cracked open.
Her sudden action of throwing her arms around him caused the vampire to stiffen for a moment before he rested a hand on the top of her head gently. Other than Bella he wasn't used to humans acting so normally around him, mostly because he refused to get close enough for them to do so. He gently pulled her arms from his neck and rested his hands on her shoulders looking down at her.
"It'll be alright, Lavender," he said. "You have friends here who will not let him hurt you again, friends who it seems are very capable of taking care of themselves." He moved for a moment to glance out her window, letting his eyes and his mind search for anyone in the near vicinty who would do her harm. "I don't think he is out there, we should move now," he commented and moved towards her door.
