Mary Jane nodded, letting go of another small laugh that was rather humorless. "There are a lot more obstacles here than back home, huh?" she asked, shaking her head as she thought of it all. "In New York, the only thing you ever really had to worry about was whether or not some other up and coming starlet was trying to get the same part as you. Here, you have to make sure you stay alive on your way to an audition and back home again."
She nodded again, this time moreso in acknowledement. "Same here. When I was younger, I wanted to be famous for it, but now, I just want to do it because I like it and because I need the money." She was staying at the Hyperion where most finances were taken care of, but Mary Jane didn't expect to stay there forever, and she literally had nothing to her name as far as money went.
Glancing up at the vending machines, she said, "Yeah, I could just go for a water, actually." It would have to wait, however, because the woman behind the desk called her name. "Nevermind, looks like it didn't take so long, after all."
