"I know. I'm so sorry," Cathy said, understanding, rubbing circles on Mary Jane's shoulder consolingly. She vividly remembered every detail of her own attack only weeks before: the pain, the humiliation that came with realizing how truly vulnerable she had been against the vampire.
There was a multitude of questions Cathy wanted to ask, including whether or not Mary Jane wanted to report the assault, if she could remember what the attacker looked like, if she wanted to go to the emergency room. But since she didn't want to bombard the girl, she started with an easy one.
"Where were you headed?" she asked, looking her over and noting the bruises, the cuts. First things first, her injuries needed to be taken care of.
