"She's dead," Sam stated in a flat tone. "And unless I send myself to hell the same way my brother did, then there's no way that she's ever coming back." There was nothing that Sam could do about it. "It's out of my hands." He didn't understand why she seemed so determined for him to skip off and apologize to this guy. Sam knew what was going to happen. No one in their right mind would ever react in a positive sort of way if someone came back and tried to talk out the fact that they murdered someone close to them. It was ridiculous, insane, and downright stupid. Sam hardly intended on making an ass out of himself just because this girl was delusional enough to think that her technique would be an effective one. He might have done some stupid things before, but Sam wasn't an idiot. He knew how that would end.
"Look," Sam said, "I've done a lot of bad things. Been involved in a lotta bad stuff. Talking to this one guy won't make much of a difference for me. I've got way too much on my conscience as is." He glanced over his shoulder and sighed. "It's not going to work. I know that you've got great intentions in mind and all, but I can see what's going to happen and I'm not going to take part in it."
