Terry was out on patrol, doing his skulking in shadows thing in ways that only batman could. He was actually about to call it a night and a silent one at that when he flew over Santa Monica in his plane. It hovered low between the buildings and kept to the shadows of freeway underpasses. Mostly staying out of sight. He was going back for the JLA meeting that by the way he was not really looking forward too. All of them thus far had been a complete and total disaster. It always sounded cool because it meant he got to meet the legends. But it never went as good as it did in his head.
He was glad Superman would be there, hopefully to keep the peace between them-because chances were he'd be needed if they wanted to team up on the Joker. He had a personal vendetta against the Joker and he knew it. Still that didn't stop him from telling the JLA to keep out of it. He had no problem with that. The Joker was responsible for the Jokerz, and the Jokerz killed his father, so he had no qualms with telling them to back off and poke their noses someplace else. Ivy was looking for him, why didn't they go there? The mere thought of Ivy made him roll his eyes until his sensors picked up a disturbance beneath him on the ground.
"So much for silent nights." He muttered as he watched Dexter carry the unconscious form into the warehouse. Terry pressed a button on the side of his cowl and could vaguely hear inside the condemned building. The sounds of begging, and Terry couldn't help it. He had to see what was going on, every hero fiber in his body said he couldn't just stay there. He couldn't just wait in the plane. So the plane lifted to the roof and Terry silently dropped from the plane to the roof. He looked down inside and what he saw made his stomach churn. What he saw next would be what plagued his dreams for nights to come should he even catch sleep to begin with. Fingers pressed against the glass he could hear the voices more clearly, but after a few moments he had to look away.
He had to pull his hand away and felt like he was going to be ill. He grit his teeth and forced himself to look back through the skylight, they were gone. He ran to the edge of the roof to look over to the streets below and saw Dexter leaving. The man from before wasn't with him, but there were bags. Bags of what? He wasn't sure he wanted to know, but he had too. Dexter got in his car and Terry ran back to the plane and jumped up inside the one seater plane to follow from a short distance.
Batman followed from the plane until it hovered there for a few moments and he decided to again drop down from it. Landing silently behind Dexter. "You're .." he had no words, the Joker was insane. Harley was annoying, but this was cold blooded murder.
