Determined not to be derailed into unconciousness by the massage, Heidi squirmed away from his hand and manuevered herself so she could rest partially atop his chest, knees bent and heels ready to fend off any further attempts to lull her back to sleep.
She knew she wasn't going to like where the expression of conflict parading around his features would lead them, but it was best they deal with whatever blows it would strike now, rather than let it gnaw away at him and worry her until they were both too tense to handle it in any manner that wasn't an argument. The terse response made her grimace, and she didn't bother to hide it.
"Nathan," She said, and when after giving him a few moments to continue, he didn't, thumped his chin with two fingers. "Look at me. I can already tell this is going to be less than pleasant, and while both of us are going to regret ruining this moment by discussing it, we're never really going to get anywhere if we don't." She scooted up several inches, and kissed his cheek before withdrawing. "So let's hear it, and figure out where to go from there."
