He could hear her coming, and if he were a rabbit, Remus was sure his ears would have flicked towards her door. His heart beat faster and faster as she approached and Remus wondered how long she had been here without him. It was entirely possible she'd been here without him for months -- maybe even years.
She opened the door and his eyes immediately flicked to her stomach. That hadn't been there this morning -- but then again he hadn't been here this morning either. The first thought was that it wasn't his -- that it couldn't be his. She'd been here for a while -- it was the love child of some other man and that was the surprise.
In spite of her fierce hug, he still looked behind her and into the flat, waiting for Mr Wrong to poke his head around the corner. It felt strange to hug her with her stomach getting in the way as it was. "How long have you been here?" he asked softly. Simple questions first -- then he'd get to the rather large issue he was carefully avoiding.
