Just as there was a city full of ways to help with abilities, there were always things to be done in the hotel that didn't require heroics or superpowers, but were just as necessary to keeping everything moving along. Claire would have liked to be out doing, out in the city, but she did what she could where she could – 'Everyone has a part, many people more than one. It doesn't always have to be demon slaying and vampire staking', as Sarah had told her – and had found she liked manning the front desk the most. Besides, as far as she was concerned, it was a good place for her to be. Apparently the lobby was no stranger to being the site of unexpected problems and Claire didn't mind being the one there if something did go wrong. It was a good use of resources, she decided, even if calling herself a human shield hadn't won her the amusement from others that she'd gotten from saying such a thing.
When an image flickered onto the screen, the approach of someone to the front door, the staccato beat Claire was drumming on the desk stopped. She looked up from the monitor just as the door opened and a girl moved into the lobby.
"May I help you?" she asked, politeness first and foremost, her expression more curious than wary.
