Elaine would have rolled her eyes at the disagreement and maybe she did. Who could really tell? It was almost a reminder of her father and uncle dinning in Destiny’s garden. Reaching out, she poured a glass of water-wine-water and turned hers into Pepsi Light with a few ice rocks to cool it. That was an update of the Marriage at Cana trick, she sipped it and smiled, satisfied by the result.
“Lucifer?” she asked, blinking. Unlike her two companions, she displayed zero apprehension at the name. In fact, she spoke with a warm fondness of familiarity. “I don’t think he will. He has been avoiding me,” she remarked and her smile faded. She had felt lonely without her uncle, not that she disliked the people she had met but it wasn’t the same. They didn’t understand. “You don’t have to worry about if he comes by,” she assured both after another quick sip to her dietetic soda. “He wouldn’t harm you. If that was in his agenda, well… do you think it’s possible to drop from his radar? I don’t think so.”
