She frowned at his childishness, pulling away and rising to put physical distance between them. Perhaps she had made the wrong choice. Julian was old beyond her comprehension and he still acted as a child with a favorite toy.
But she knew he loved her. Loved her enough to give up his own life for hers and those of her friends.
Turning back to face him, she looked him in the face, heart breaking with the despair that flickered there, if only for a moment, "I told him no, Julian."
