WHO: Prince Zuko & Aang WHAT: teaching the Avatar firebending WHERE: the zoo, possibly to somewhere else WHEN: January 7th, mid-afternoon RATING: TBA STATUS: in progress...
Zuko had been thinking about offering to teach the Avatar firebending for a while, though it seemed the boy had decided on his own that it was time the prince did so. He felt bad, that he was going to see the Avatar, where as to his knowledge, Katara had yet to meet up with him, but that was a situation beyond his control. Katara wasn't at the hotel and it wasn't his business as to where she went. They weren't even really friends, more like co-workers or acquaintances. Sure, they had a few interesting run-ins, but they didn't mean anything. She hated him and he was annoyed by her, it was as simple as that. Although, if she had remained, he would've offered to bring her along for Aang's first firebending lesson, because despite what she may or may not believe, he was indeed capable of being nice.
And, he would rather inform them that Azula was now here at the same time, rather than do it separately. Katara would be cross with him somehow over it, he suspected. Nothing he ever did was right in the waterbender's eyes, almost as if she thought he was going to corrupt everything he touched. Zuko rolled his eyes at that thought, approaching the locked front gate of the zoo as he idly wondered how the Avatar was going to take this news. Hopefully better than he anticipated his waterbending companion would.
It was all the more reason for him to be taught firebending.
Looking left, then right, Zuko climbed the gate with ease, dropping down onto the pavement on the other side with ease. He walked through the zoo for a good while, stopping every so often to glance at an animal in wonder and curiosity, before he finally came to the rhino pen. He remembered the Avatar mentioning that his flying bison had been residing with the beasts and soon enough, he spotted it.
Appa, that's what it's name was, right? He wasn't sure, but still smiled in the bison's direction when it rumbled up at him. Perhaps he remembered when Zuko set him free in Ba Sing Se...one of the few things he'd done right there.
