If he was lucky, their rekindling would signal Alice to stop pestering him about how stupid and thoughtless he could be. Knowing that he’d mended the strain between himself and Bella would make her happy, because of anything, Alice was able to see past the lies that he tried to tell, claiming that he could survive without Bella, trying to convince all of them that she would be just fine without their family nearby.
He wasn’t thinking about his pixie-like sister right now, but he would be, very soon if he decided to approach her as he’d promised. He was much too occupied with thoughts of Bella to think about anything else, and that wasn’t such a bad thing at all. It was nice, actually.
She kissed him lightly, no doubt trying to stick to those boundaries that he’d set for them both. When she dropped herself back down Edward leaned forward to place a kiss of his own on the side of her mouth. He gingerly touched her face, trying to keep himself in check.
“You were going somewhere. I should let you get back to that.”
