"Sounds like Superman to me," he told her with a sympathetic sort of smile. "I'm sure he was glad that you were there with him at the end of it all." Clark knew that he would have been if he had been put into the same situation. He potentially had, at one point. But Superman had never died. He'd come dangerously close though after he'd hurled that kryptonite ridden hunk of land away from the planet and lifelessly crashed into the earth below. He could remember Lois being at his side. Speaking to him and then, finally, something warm. He wasn't entirely aware of it, but in that moment Lois had kissed him. Hours later he had woken.
He patted her on the shoulder a little before he cleared his throat and said, "Maybe coffee isn't such a good idea after all." She was upset. He didn't want to drag her out into a public place while she was so emotionally torn up.
