It was only after Clark had returned to the Hyperion hotel with Mary Jane that he realized that he'd forgotten something fairly important back at the newspaper. If he was going to get that article published on the new arrivals and their experiences within the city, he was definitely going to need to retrieve the disc in which he had a good portion of the article saved on. He had left it sitting on his desk, so only after he had made sure that Mary Jane was safely inside of the hotel, Clark headed back. This time? He opted to take the sky rather than the ground below. And it was rather fortunate that he had, otherwise he would have wasted precious time in getting into his uniform before he tackled the mugging that he had stumbled across on his way there.
However, when he got back to work he was hardly donned in the Superman attire. While everyone seemed well aware of who he actually was, Clark preferred to lighten the stares by wandering in casual work attire. They definitely helped him blend in more than his uniform would have.
It only took him a minute or two to find what he was looking for. Shoving the disc into his pocket, Clark turned away from his desk and started moving. He stepped past a few desks, then nudged his way toward the path closest to the elevator. Which, unfortunately, resided in front of the editor's office. He'd been harassed by the editor nearly every time he had passed by and Clark really didn't want to have to go through the same thing he had just gotten out of only an hour or so before. Glancing over his shoulder, Clark quickly moved his way past the office and tried to get at the elevator without causing much of a scene.
But, it seemed that a scene happened to be more than unavoidable. As he had been searching for any sign of the energetic editor, Clark lost sight of what was in front of him. And that was exactly why he had managed to wander into a much, much smaller person than he was himself. For the second time in one day. He quickly yanked his head down to look at the person, both arms reaching out to steady the woman in the event that she lost her footing and fell.
"I'm so sorry," he blurted out at once. "I should have been watc --- are you okay?"
