Annie had been sitting in her garden simply watching the fountain and flowers, when she'd felt something... shift in the air around her. Her brow marred a bit as she glanced up toward the sky, then over her shoulder at the gate and the street beyond. Slowly looking back to the fountain, she brushed her fingertips gently against the petals of one of the blooming buds before soundlessly rising to her feet and making her way out of the garden.
There was a time when trying to leave the Hyperion was near impossible. It still was, in some ways, without drawing a lot of attention to herself. However with Sister returning back home, Cordelia moving out, and Mantis going away, there weren't as many watchful eyes on her as there had once been. And making the camera turn slightly to the right so as not to notice her small frame as she stepped through the gate and onto the walkway leading away from the hotel was much easier than most of her other 'tricks'.
So she made her escape rather easily and soon found herself coming around the front of the building just in time to see a man sit down on a nearby bench. Going still, Annie studied him for a moment. He didn't look right. She wasn't sure what it was about him, but he wasn't what he seemed to be. He was pretending to be someone else, she thought, but his own mental process was in such turmoil it was difficult to say for sure.
One thing she did know, though, was that he had to be the disturbance she'd sensed. And that alone was reason enough for her to investigate further.
Silently she walked toward him, coming to a stop a few scant feet away and simply watching him. She didn't speak. She didn't even offer a smile. She just studied him quietly and waited for his mind to slow down enough that she could figure out why he was so different.
